Industrial Revolution

I want to walk
On untouched land
Watching the virgin
Simplicity disappear
Stealing away its innocence
With every step I take
Leaving my imprint
In the ground behind me
Though this is only a dream
Nothing is this pure anymore
Nothing was ever this pure
Think back to Adam and Eve
Though once that apple came into view
Everything went downhill from there
Was once a wonderful untainted paradise
Is now no more
Years of evolution
Have opened my eyes
The reproduction of an organism
And many more to follow that path
Starting with the most primitive action
The creation of fire
Following civil wars and battle
Where people died
Leaving their carcasses on the ground
Elements taking a long time to decompose
Living and learning
To the invention of cars
Destroying the atmosphere
With that smog and gas
Cities with factories
As tall as the sky
Are being made to accommodate
The human race
If only the world could see what they’ve done
Tearing down trees
To build more places to work or live
Having the previous owners scatter
Just to survive
How would you like it?
If someone knocked down your house
Just to build something bigger and more expensive
Personally, I don’t think you’d like it
As people, we don’t think of what was
We always seem to look towards the future
Well screw the future!
Think about it…
Untouched land
Not where the Europeans stole the Native’s land
But seriously, untouched
Not out of reach, or out of view
Or an island no human being has ever been on
Not a planet left unexplored
But untouched land
Virgin land
Never touched before
And never going to be touched again
It’s hard to imagine isn’t it?
We’re so used to waste and rubbish
On the earth’s surface
I can’t even fathom what is below us
Besides the core,
I think its just more garbage
People are trying to hide what was
So they can move on with their lives
Out of sight, out of mind
Right?
Burying the past
Along with anything else
They don’t want to see again
It doesn’t matter
When I get the chance
I will find my virgin land
And I will walk on it
Stealing away its innocence
With every step I take
Leaving my imprint
In the ground behind me
So it knows who I am
Though this is only a dream
And I only a dreamer
Because I know this will never happen
The world is evolving too quickly
And the simplicity of it disappears
